Wow I am stoked with my new Titus! Â Going from having just my KiwiBike custom built single speed for the last two years, I’m feeling pretty spoilt
to be able to make the choice between the two. Â Thank you so much for helping me open my wallet, I’m having an absolute blast on my new toy!
Here’s a photo of me at the base of Mt Tauhara where the Crank Taupo race is being held this weekend, it’s a combination XC race in the morning followed by Downhill built by JK in the afternoon. Â I’ll be dropping the seat and taking the Titus down … hmm, if my limbs are still intact after this I may be needing to add to my bike fleet soon 🙂
Thanks heaps to you and the guys at KiwiBikes, see ya on the trails!
From a French tourist’s travel blog…
(thanks to Google translate)
Big problems with the front fork of Phileas: we want to settle here before attacking Asia. When we ask for help from a sports shop, “Go see Jeff in town, he alone can solve your problem, he is the best bike builder in the country!”
What we do. Jeff disassembled my fork and he asks us where we went? How much weight? How long has it been like that? Indeed, a part of the top is split into two, and the fork itself has begin to to be damaged… DANGER !!!!! It leaves us no choice, he gets an old fork, cut the Phileas, re-welded everything, especially the steering system replaced by the sturdier it is! Jeff builds his own bicycle frames and its motto is: “Aluminum is crap, it is only steel that lasts!” Luckily, Phineas is steel … Thank you Jeff for your ingenuity and your efficiency.
From Jeffson Tandem Riders Anja McDonald & Tristan Rawlence
The Serious Fun tandem Tour is run each September alternating between Nelson and Masterton. This year we were in Nelson along with 20 tandems from as far afield as Keri Keri.
The Tandem got a lot of attention. 90% of the bikes there were Canondale, so our set-up was really very unique. We had a lot of questions about it and were happy to tell everyone that were were extremely comfortable on it.
By the sounds of all the other stokers, an alloy frame really badgers you, which is quite different to the experience I had on the back of our steel frame.
Thanks again Jeff! It really was aweome.
From locals Toni and Llewyn who toured the world on their custom-built Jeffson touring bikes.
Hope all is well with you. Thought you’d be interested to see a message that we received on our website from a cycle tourist in Europe:
“Hey good luck, bike shops are really cool around France and Spain and happy to help if you need special tool etc. Your bikes look really well designed and comfy – credit to your builder…”
So thanks (once again!) – see you in a few years.
From local legend Gaz Sullivan of NZO
Once again, thanks for the loan of the Jeffson tandem on Saturday!
It got a lot of favourable comments, particularly from some Americans who live in Tauranga, they had no idea there was somewhere in New Zealand where frames are built.
